Check Activation Lock Staus on MacBook befor transfer or sale to other

To check a MacBook is locked by another Apple ID (Activation Lock), especially when buying a used device, or the user return the laptop before their leave the company.

To prevent this problem we need to check the MacBook status and confirm with user or seller when buy a second hand device.

MacBooks with the Apple T2 Security Chip or Apple silicon (M serieal) have an Activation Lock status you can check in the system information, follow these steps.

  1. Click the Apple Menu on top left > "About This Mac".

  1. Click on "More Info..."

  1. On the left menu choose "General" > "Systgem Report...".

  1. Hardware > "Activation Lock Status", the status should be as Disable (If status is Enable it mean this device was locked with some apple id).
