Creating a Virtual Disk and selecting RAID type on a Dell PowerEdge Server
To create a virtual disk and select the RAID type on a Dell server via the Lifecycle Controller menu. This can following step.
- Start the server.
2. Press "F10" to access "Lifecycle controller".
- Select "System Setup".
- Click on "Advanced Hardware Configuration"
- Select "Device Settings".
- Select "RAID Controller....".
- Select "Main Menu"
8. Select "Virtual Disk Management".
- Currently, there are no virtual disks available. We will create one.
- Select "Configuration Management".
- Select "Create Virtual Disk".
- This pages show setting.
- Select RAID Level: (This example will use RAID5).
14. Select Physical Disks for member of RAID.
- Choose a physical disk and set properties.
- Select "Apply Changes".
- Name "Virtual Disk Name" and set disk parameters then click "Create Virtual Disk".
- "Yes" and "OK" to confirm the process was successful.
- Recheck by going to "Virtual Disk Management" to view the created virtual disk.
- A new virtual disk is listed. It finishes the step to create the virtual disk (the virtual disk will start to initialize the new virtual disks).

Click to check properties on the virtual disk.
View associated physical disks on this virtual disk.
View virtual disk configuration.
- The virtual disk is in progress. It will show % progress.
- When finish it will show "Ready" status.
