Delete the virtual drive and RAID on the Dell PowerEdge Server


To delete a virtual disk on a Dell server, try following the steps below.

  1. Start the server.

  1. Hit F10 to access "Lifecycle Controller (Config iDRAC, Update FW, Install OS).

  1. On "Lifecycle Controller" page. Select "System Setup".

  1. Advanced Hardware Configuration.

  1. Device Settings.

  1. RAID Controller ... Configuration Utility.

  1. Main Menu.

  1. Virtual Disk Management.

  1. Select the virtual disk to delete (This example used RAID1 with 2 disks).

  1. In the virtual disk, you can check information before deleting it.

  1. If you select the option "View Associated Physical Disks". It will show like this.

  1. If you select the option "Advanced". It will show like this.

  1. So, we will delete this virtual disk, then select "Delete Virtual Disk" from the drop-down list.

  1. Go

  1. Check "Confirm" and click "Yes"

  1. Then "OK"

  1. Now the virtual disk was deleted.
