Enable mailbox archive on Microsoft 365 email
Email archiving in Microsoft 365 (In-Place Archiving) provides users with more mailbox storage space.
This article will show how to enable or disable an archive mailbox by using the Exchange admin portal.
- Login to admin console.
- On left menu, Go to "Show all".
- Looking for manu "Exchange".
- In the "Mailboxs", select mail box.
- In the user mailbox. Select "Other" tab and looking for "Mailbox archive", Manage mailbox archive.
- Enable mailbox archive.
- it will show archive useage
(Items stored in the archive mailbox don’t count toward the user’s mailbox storage quota. An archive mailbox has its own archive quota and archive warning quota. In Exchange 2013, the default archive quota is 50 GB and archive warning quota is 45 GB. In Exchange Online, archive quotas depend on the subscription plan.)
- Also can name Archive mailbox name to display on webmail.
- The archive mailbox will show on left hand menu.
Note:
When you enable the archive mailbox, items in the user's mailbox that are older than the archiving policy assigned to the mailbox will be moved to the new archive mailbox.
The default archive policy that is part of the retention policy assigned to Exchange Online mailboxes moves items to the archive mailbox two years after the date the item was delivered to the mailbox or created by the user.
