Gmail: Tracking email messages using "Email Log Search (ELS)"



To track emails received by the mail server or rejected by some recipients, you can check this by using Email Log Search (ELS).

  1. Log in to the admin Gmail console (https://admin.google.com).

  1. On the left sidebar, go to "Reporting" > "Email Log Search".

  1. Email log search > Predefined search

  1. Result

  1. Email log search > Custom search.

  1. Filter by selected
    1. Message date range
    2. Sender email (enter full or partial email)
    3. Recipient email (enter full or partial email)
    4. Sender IP
    5. Recipient IP
    6. Subject
    7. Message ID

  1. After entering the filter then click "Search", the Result will show the list.

  1. Click on a message to see the details.
    1. Subject.
    2. Sender
    3. Recipient
    4. Message ID
    5. Status
    6. Recipient detail

  1. Use the result to analyze the email problem.

*Accessing ELS (Email Logs Search) requires global admin permission.
