Server: Update BIOS and iDrac FW via iDrac console on Dell Server PowerEdge R540.

Chetta Busayarat -

Pre-request.

1. Download the BIOS update file

Dell Server PowerEdge BIOS R440/R540/T440 Version 2.24.0 *Restart required

2. Download the iDrac Firmware update file.

iDRAC 7.00.00.182 (please extract .exe file > folder payload > upload .D7/D9 into idrac file path)


Update BIOS and iDrac firmware via iDrac console.

  1. Log in to the iDrac console.
  2. Located in the menu "Maintenance" > "System Update" > "Manual Updateg" > Choose file to update.

  1. Upload the file and wait until the file upload is complete.

  1. Click install and reboot.
  2. After it's done, the system will reboot automatically.
  3. Repeat step for iDrac update.
  4. Check that the BIOS version is up to date (iDrac Dashboard > System Information).
